New Summer Night

Light turns to dark with the slightest breeze
as we bid farewell to summer.
Welcome in, autumns murmur,
blowing leaves, falling off trees.

The cooler nights begin to tease
as we don our winter-wear, warmer.
Stave off winters glacial glare,
towards spring, beg our eyes do seize.

The stars above shine bright
Giving some resemblance to city light
Pathway winding, trees sheltered tight
An eerie feeling but welcome sight
Dampness in the air giving bite
Alone in darkness, on a new summer night
