Thin Ice

A walk in the dark through a forest lost
Tracks laid deep in snow to the knee
A burden toiled every step spoils
Virgin dust of liquid frost
White, pure, demure

Sadness cooled by the cold night air
The burn, on flesh bare, turns white the hare

Stumbled out, a clearing found
Lined by trees and mountain peaks
Glide along, on a frozen lake
Heavy load, thin ice breaks
The further out, the deeper goes

Centre point, a pirouette, taking in the last breath
Catch a glimpse, wink at natures bliss

A shock to the core turns off the heat
All the senses heighten except for smell
Sight is the first to go from what follows
Awoken in the arms of an angels glow
After death or saved from drowning

You See, It’s Like This…

Incapable of love
To have and to hold until death does part
Committing to a purpose
Sanity or insanity, which, is listened to more

You see, it’s like this…

Always thought, a child left to rot
Without want from a mother’s heart
Would end up dead by the time he’s ten
That was when the brain opened up
Fighting back, cussin’out
School calls dad, come get your son
Year after year, became more severe
The hate inside can’t stand it here
Time to go, pack a bag and leave
Lonely nights, frost bit hands
Wandered out to nowhere lands
Found the coast where the sun sets last
Pushing brooms, cleaning toilets
Taking scraps from half eaten sandwiches
Making bed on wooden park benches
Vowed to be free as a black bird
Roaming here and there, no care nor need
Without a first love, the heart will never bleed
Watching the world roll by
Leaves me wondering why
I chose to be the who is me
End the line that’s coloured red
A name no more to be read
Vanished, when a final breath is bled

A Sanity Assailed

Sunlight dances through leaves off vines
To touch the earth on this morning rise
Crisp autumn air left beads of crystal ice
Spooning grapes, dangling, wanting, to be wine

Drunk on the nectar of the gods
Gives courage to sing a song aloud
Dance about, frolic, in happy thoughts
Spreading joy, leaving smiles abound

Taste of wine, on lips, divine
Quick to kiss, a kiss’ sublime
Sends a rush, a hush, be mine
Forevermore, one glass at a time

Sober comes, when pain invades
Screams inside, a story creates
Silence broken, sliced by blades
Splattered blood, on a paper chase

Vineyards deep, beyond what lays
Lost in sleep, a final breath exhaled
Counting sheep, to end all days
Bottles deep, a sanity assailed

Come Dance With Me

How bittersweet the journey has, travelled long, highs, lows
Lured by dimpled smiles, dreamy, steamy, sexy eyes
Fell in love a thousand times, every one hit beats in rhymes
Held captive to a broken heart, stitches fade to a hardened scar…

Come dance with me, soothe our souls
Could you, would you, find the time to roll
Blaze the herb of peace and tranquility
Take a chance on a night filled sensuality
Come dance with me, flesh to flesh
Feel the heat, warmed on skin flushed
Side to side, swaying with the breeze
All alone, no one watching, now breathe
Come dance with me, open wide
Make every step a silky glide
Taste what we feel, touch back every touch
A lifetime flashed, make every second count
Come dance with me, to the very end
Lay down slow from a spinning pirouette
Beautiful swan drunk and charmed
Faerie tale dreams in a prince’ arms

Water Dancer

A forgotten reminder
Found floating under water
One gulp of air braved
For the final dance saved
Birthed from mother’s womb
Drowned in oceans tomb

China doll sinks below
Wishes for a tail to grow
A mermaid to comfort
Sailors who covet
Passing round rum
Whistling “a pirate I am”
Lured by a vision, a beauty queen
Strikes a pose like the goddess Norma Jean

The sound of silence roars
At a time in space a planet forms
It births the living, one can imagine
The beauty created as if with magic
Earth spread wide covered green
Trees lined up to mountain peaks
Valleys, lakes, rivers that spill
To the ocean, deep, dark, muffled still
Darwin’s dream, is it real? Where from
A crystalline sea, the start and end comes

One Moment In Time

I would take and cherish but a glance
If that is all you have to give, my chance
To turn it into something grand
As to be bold enough to hold your hand
Strong yet delicate, my heart pulls to dance
Float high into the clouds, a romance
Begins with trust, planted firmly on land
Oh how we would move, make the world stand
Watch love grow with just one look, perchance
One moment in time that would break this trance

To Dream The Dream

Awake, asleep, I lose my mind thinking about her I find
I’ve lost the real for the unreal, becoming my real is surreal…

Her silhouette moves into view
Crystalline colours of every hue
My vision clears that I may see
The sparkle of her shine moves me

Every step and glance is choreographed
As a cinematic masterpiece crafted
Potions brewed in a cauldron of draught
Sorcery and spells concocted by witchcraft

To dream the dream, may it come true
To have, to hold, embrace anew
Living on the edge of reality
Tipping on side of fantasy
