Blackbird Freed

Borrowed time from whence it came
Laid across the sky on a line the same
Above, below, winds that howl and tame
Cursed and beaten by lifes frigid cane
Knocked to ground yet rose from winters rein
Blackbird freed from his lashing reign
Ills that mend with springs healing rain
Reborn anew, cleansing scars that stain
Driven by courage to overcome shame

Found a path that leads to change
Removed the ties and chain
Embrace the life that god gave
Erase the hate, so love will save
Demand what’s right but own the blame
